Supporting Healthy Relationships

 The Council of the Isles of Scilly has joined up with Cornwall Council to offer families the opportunity to join online workshops.  No matter where you are in your parenting journey, you can learn to manage stress and communicate more effectively.  Me, You and baby Too; Arguing Better; Getting it Right for Children; Self Guided course is also available and information on support for LGBTQ+ families with the Intercom Trust.

Cornwall Together for Families​​

Parents and carers can access virtual workshops/online parenting courses offered by Cornwall Together for Families.  Visit www.cornwall.gov.uk/parenting which has information about each course, which courseare available online and direct you to the parenting support booking platform. 

There is a parenting helpline, 01872 324323, which can support families to choose the right parenting workshop for them as well as providing access to practical support for booking.

CONTACT online Parent Carer workshops

SCOPE Sleep Podcasts

SCOPE have put together a series of sleep right podcasts for disabled children and their families to help encourage a good night's sleep.​

The podcasts cover:

  • Relaxing Bedrooms

  • Sleepy Foods

  • Bedtime Activities

  • Bedtime Anxiety

  • Relaxation​​

Solihull Approach - Free online parenting courses

​Free online parenting courses created by the Solihull Approach and focus on supporting the relationships between parents, grandparents, and/or carers and their children by improving emotional health and wellbeing.​

Access to the free online courses is available at the In Our Place website: www.inourplace.co.uk using the code TAMAR, which provides lifetime access. Courses available include:

  • Understanding pregnancy, labour, birth and your baby

  • Understanding your baby

  • Understanding your child

  • Understanding your teenagers brain

  • Understanding your child with additional needs

  • For teenagers only - understanding your brain

 The courses are available in different languages including Urdu, Polish, Chinese, Bulgarian and Arabic.

Hunrosa 

A series of 17 Sleep takeaway advice cards can be downloaded from the Hunrosa website.  For children and young people and their families, including those children with additional needs and up to the age of 25 years. These have been developed by Hunrosa sleep consultancy working within the NHS. These commissioned cards use evidence based sleep information and advice.
